Radu Băieș

Radu Băieș (b. 1988, Cluj, Romania) lives and works in Cluj. He studied painting at the University of Art and Design in Cluj (2008-2011, BA, 2011-2013, MA, 2020-present, PHD). His art was exhibited in Romania, the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Hungary, and Taiwan. In addition to the medium (oil on canvas), another distinctive feature of his paintings is that they include objects or human shapes rendered in dismal hues and positioned in ambiguous settings that almost defy the laws of space. These isolated figures define a hermetic atmosphere that is related to the heritage of Symbolism and to Paul Gauguin’s art in particular. The unique and highly profound nature of his personal style has come to be of interest to national and international collectors.

Just a few of his most recent exhibitions are: “Travel Guide” (2022), IOMO Gallery, Bucharest, RO, “Searching for my human traces” (2021), Olomouc, CZ, “Echoes beneath the waves”, Museum of Artă, Cluj, RO, “The Great Journey” (2018), Sector1 Gallery, Bucharest, RO, “Cosmic Green Solitude” (2017), Art Plus Text Budapest Gallery, HU.
