ROBERTA CURCĂ (b. 1991) is a Bucharest-based artist working with drawing, photography, objects, and artist books. In her work she employs a systematic investigation into various types of structures and images that describe or subvert one’s relationship to the built or natural environment, as well as into the psychological, social, political or ecological implications of this relationship. She often explores the dynamic between two- and three-dimensional states, order and chance, intent and impact, the human and the non-human. Roberta Curcă has a BA and an MA in Drawing from the National University of Arts in Bucharest and is currently doing her Ph.D. in cultural studies at CESI – Center of Excellence in Image Studies. Her work has been shown recently at Zina Gallery (solo exhibition) and MATCA art space in Cluj-Napoca, Accademia di Romania in Rome, Ivan Gallery (solo exhibition) and Atelier 35 in Bucharest, Indecis artist run space, Kunsthalle Bega and the 2022 Beta Architecture Biennial in Timișoara.
