Born in Constanța, Lucian Hrisav proposes a return to the seaside through this series of minimalist landscapes. The horizon is the conventional reference point that opens the path of sight to an infinite depth, and this specific sensation occurs based on a cognitive slide into emptiness. The gaze at the sea offers one of the rare occasions where human perception, limited in space and time, is confronted with something beyond its boundaries. Such a paradoxical encounter creates a mental discontinuity, a pause upon which everything is viewed as if for the first time. Lucian manages to capture this inexplicable effect of encountering the infinite both from a visual and tactile perspective, through the sand-like texture produced by multiple layers of acrylic spray. Each image is composed of millions of tiny particles, all existing as part of a whole and as individual traces to an equal extent.
